To KnowIn the Bible, the original Hebrew word for "to know" is yada. This is the very same word that is found in the great Adam and Eve story: "Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore Cain." Genesis 4:1 You don't have to be an OBGYN or Dr. Ruth to figure out that the word yada or "know" is used here as a codeword for describing human sexual expression at its most intimate level in marriage. What is so fascinating is that God uses that very same word to describe what His own heart longs for with every human being. God says, I want you to yada me–i.e., I long for you to know me, even as I know you–so that we might deeply share a very personal relationship together. Jeremiah 9:23,24 God could hardly be more graphic and passionate in expressing His desire to share a friendship, a very personal relationship, with every child on this planet–including you! |
