God's Help
A promise is given to assure us of God's enabling presence
with us through each of the four steps we are asked to take in cooperation
with God's act of giving us "new birth" into a relationship with Him that
renews us and assures us of eternal life.
- God promises to give each of us a "measure of faith." Romans
12:3
- God promises to give us a spirit of repentance. Acts
5:31; 11:18
- When we get to know Jesus, we will desire to be baptized.
Acts 8:30-38
- God promises that His Spirit will give us new hearts, so to
speak, with His laws encoded in them, hearts that will desire and be enabled
to do His will. Ezekiel 36:26,27; Hebrews
8:10; Psalm 40:8
Thus, even the steps we take toward God are evidence of our dependence
upon Him and that we are being saved wholly by His grace.
