Poor and wealthy alike will spend everything they have in order to postpone death even a few more months. The human dream is that medical researchers will find the scientific solution that will extend human life indefinitely. Trillions of dollars are invested in the search. |

Churches, cathedrals, temples, synagogues and mosques around the world rise as monuments to the human quest to be saved. People read their holy books, kneel in prayer, burn their candles, sprinkle their holy water, even walk on fiery coals and lance their torsos with iron hooks and spears–to be saved. Whether or not people believe in God, they join in this heart cry of
our planet, "What must I do to be saved?" It's little wonder that
the Bible addresses directly and outright this most universal and consequential
of all human quests.
