Prophesied in AdvanceThe prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 was given to Daniel in "the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus" (Daniel 9:1), or 539-538 B.C. (Before Christ). Some may still doubt whether such a prophecy could have been written so far in advance of the actual events taking place. But is an undisputed fact that the entire book of Daniel, including the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27, was translated from the original languages of Hebrew and Aramaic into Greek in the Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament sometime between 100-200 B.C., and was in existence in that form for over 100 years before Jesus was even born. Thus even the most skeptical can't date it later than 100 years before the prophesied events actually occurred. However, modern scholarship supports the earlier date of 539-538 B.C.
for this prophecy.
