69 Weeks of YearsAccording to Daniel 9:25, there would be "seven weeks and sixty-two weeks" (69 weeks total) between 457 B.C. (when the decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued) and the time when "Messiah the Prince" would come.In these prophetic weeks, each day represents a literal year. During the first period of seven prophetic weeks, or 49 literal years (7x7=49), from 457 B.C. to 408 B.C., the temple in Jerusalem was in the process of being completed. And sixty-two prophetic weeks, or 434 literal years (62x7=434), later, in 27 A.D., the long awaited and true "Messiah the Prince" was supposed to come. |
