There are other strong indicators, if not outright evidences, that the
Bible is not merely the product of human creativity.
- It's veracity has
been authenticated by numerous prophecies. No other book in the world
consistently prophesied events hundreds of years in advance of when they
occurred. For instance, Isaiah, writing over 100 years before the
Persian king Cyrus was even born, prophesied that Cyrus (he actually called
him by name!) would release the Jews from Babylonian captivity, which is
exactly what he eventually did. Isaiah
44:24-28;-45:5-13 Our study, "The Spectacular Prophecy Nostradamus
Missed," which can be accesses from our home page, is another example.
The prophecies of the Bible are God's signature authenticating that the
Bible is true. They are God's ID papers verifying that all searches
for the ultimate source of the Bible's message must eventually lead to
Him.
- Have you ever had
a toothache? How do you know for sure that you actually had a toothache
and that it wasn't some figment of your imagination? You actually
experienced it, right? Well, ask people from all walks of life who
believe in the Bible why they put so much faith in it, and they will tell
you that it gives meaning and hope to their life like nothing else they've
ever experienced.
The Bible claims to be:
- personal communication to you from God Himself,
Hebrews 1:1;
- able to make you wise
unto salvation, 2 Timothy 3:15;
-
the means through which God has chosen to create spiritual life within
you, 1 Peter 1:23;
- the spiritual
nourishment that enables you to grow spiritually, Matthew
4:4;
- the revelation of what God will accomplish in your life
when you receive His word with a humble, teachable spirit, Isaiah
55:10-11;
- a guide in helping you make wise decisions, Psalm
119:105;
- a safeguard, helping you not to disobey God, Psalm
119:11;
- a means of warning and guiding you back to God if you begin
to inadvertently stray away from Him, 2
Timothy 3:16;
- a strength to your intellect, Psalm
119:130;
- God's training manual, equipping you for effective service,
2 Timothy 3:17.
No other book in the world makes such extravagant claims, yet has so
many adherents. It's worth a serious look!
One more thing. To get the most out of it you must ask God for
guidance and understanding. James 1:5;
1 Corinthians 2:14.
