Famines
Consider this:
1. Forty thousand babies die of starvation every
day in the Third World, one baby every 2.16 seconds.
2. Thirty-seven percent of the world cannot buy
enough food to sustain the bare necessities.
3. Eight hundred million people will go to bed undernourished
tonight.
4. The Food and Agriculture Organization of
the United Nations reports that grain harvest has increased 2.3% since
1990, while global population growth was 10%.
According to Robert S. McNamara, President of the World Bank, "Population
growth is the gravest issue the world faces. . . and will have catastrophic
consequences if we do not act. The problem will be solved by famine,
riot, insurrection, and war."
