The Dangers of the Rapture Theory

We see the following three great dangers in the popular teaching of the rapture, and there may be more:

1. The rapture theory teaches there will be a "second chance" to be saved after Jesus returns.  As much as we all may wish this were true, no support can be found for it in the Bible.  We believe this teaching of the rapturists robs the gospel of its present urgency and could prove tragically fatal to millions who rely on it.

2. By teaching that the antichrist has not yet been manifested, but will be the role played by a single individual at the very end of time, the rapturists have broken with the historic position of the leaders of the great Reformation who clearly saw the antichrist already at work in their own day.  (If you are interested in exploring this particular point further, listen to our audio or video presentation "What Left Behind Left Behind: The Most Dangerous Truth of All.")

3. The teaching that Christians will raptured before the final great tribulation that the Bible prophesies will come on the world, thus sparing them from any suffering in the last days, could result in great bewilderment, disillusionment and doubt for many Christians when the real deal comes.
