Death
How can you have peace knowing that your life will end someday, and within a few years of that you will likely be completely forgotten, as though you never existed? We chuckle at the proverb, "the two things in life you can count on are death and taxes." But we're also haunted by that proverb, because we know it's absolutely true. Some people may have been able to cheat their way out of paying their fair share of taxes, but no one has yet been able to cheat death. |
