Cartoon
| Gary Larson's one-frame cartoons called The Far Side
uncannily capture the zaniness and craziness of modern life through the
eyes and lips of the animal kingdom. Among those with theological
overtones is the following:
Two deer standing on their hind legs, propped up against a tree, are
talking together like two human beings. One of them stares down at
his furry chest upon which is emblazoned a giant circular target with smaller
and smaller rings ending in a bulls-eye right over the deer's heart.
The other deer takes one look and quips, "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal."
The fact is we are all born with a fatal birthmark. According
to the Bible, we have all inherited a sinful nature which inclines us toward
sin, and furthermore have sinned and are
thus destined to die. Romans 5:12; 6:23
